Car Show 2009

The Orinda Annual Classic Car Show on Saturday September 19th brought several new elements to celebrate the show’s 5th anniversary. This year had an outstanding array of beautiful vintage, muscle and modern classics that totaled over one hundred and thirty! Local car lovers also enjoyed a special race car exhibit and for the first time motorcycles were displayed. A real treat included some special motorcycles provided by local custom builder Arlen Ness.  This year’s show also included a special exhibit that was a partnership between Orinda Motors and the Orinda Historical Society.  In a museum like display vintage cars were matched with photos from the same decade. The result was an called “Orinda Through the Years” and was very popular with show goers this year.
The food booth was provided by local Orinda Boy Scouts. Car show visitors could also pay $10 to ride in one of the show cars during the parade of classic cars that happened at the end of the show. There was a support dinner dance the night before called “Dancing With The Cars” that provided a casual gathering for car enthusiasts and car show supporters. This special event provided significant donations to the cause.
In the end, the Orinda 5th Annual Classic Car Show raised over $25,000 for the charities supported by the show. The majority of the proceeds benefited the Seniors Around Town transportation program. EFO (educational foundation ) was on hand at the car show accepting donations. In the end the Orinda Historical Society received a $2500 donation from the Orinda Classic Car Show to help fund it’s efforts in preserving the history of Orinda. While history was being preserved history was being made and this day confirmed the Orinda Classic Car Show as a major community event.
